WHY ARE YOU SCARED by VNNV on Flickr.

I wanted to do a piece that borderlines what some consider to be pornographic, and erotic. I remember as a child I didn’t understand why I had to wear a full-piece swimming suit or a two piece-swimming suit to the beach, while boys were allowed to wear only shorts. I didn’t see any difference between us then, and now I feel the same. Why is it that women have to hide away their bodies when men are almost nude half of the time? I often view it as a result of a very misogynistic society view that anything that could arouse a man, such as breasts, bottom, etc, is banned and is straight away seen as pornographic. I wanted to challenge this view and say ‘why are you scared of your own bodies’, directed at not a type of individual but for society.
